"I have been made aware through conversations in control-line
circles that a number of people are concerned about the
diminishing number of youngsters coming into control-line flying."
Michael Parry. Model Flyer. December 2002 Issue.
Buzzflight introduced two definitive ELECTRIC control-line
trainers both of which they thought were ideal for any youngster to get started in aeromodelling
and old hands too who would enjoy flying QUIETLY nearer to home! These models
allowed a novice to get the feel of a control-line aircraft
leading them on to I/C (Internal Combustion) engines and bigger and more powerful aircraft. Having an ON/OFF switch on the handle, which they did,
gave the pilot control over the motor, reducing
the risk of crashing and smashing first time out.
As Buzzflight said, "there are no frills - just thrills!" The Hummingbirds were robust and
had pleasing lines both on the ground and in the air. Being extremely quiet by comparison,
they could be flown on a hard flat surface (school playground, car park, suitably sized, closely cropped lawn),
had no need of an assistant, had no starting problems, were clean AND COULD BE FLOWN INDOORS! A flick of the switch and take off!
Flown on 20 - 21ft lines, these little cuties could zip along for flights of an amazingly long duration.

Kit contained: CNC cut parts in balsa and plywood, 400 series electric motor, propeller and spinner (colours may vary) and propeller adapter, all balsa, undercarriage wire, wheels, control line/power wire, on-off switch, all electrical connectors, sundries, building instructions, full size plan of the model and the control line handle.
Items required to complete and fly the model : covering materials AND A 12VOLT 7AH BATTERY AND CHARGER, available from any good model shop. The pilot carried the battery in a small haversack when flying. (Haversack & 12v battery approx weight 450grms/2lb 8oz. Haversack was not provided.)

Buzzflight ALWAYS recommended that ANY batteries being employed to fly their products were carried in a haversack made from a substantial material. This would greatly minimise the risk of injury should a battery go wayward!
